Wiwik Dharmiasih, MA

I currently serve as a lecturer at the Udayana University International Relations department. In my programmatic initiatives I am especially interested in encouraging participation among under-served communities, particularly youth, and have been experimenting with the Photovoices methodology and other multi-media approaches. I am also part of the World Heritage Watch, a network of civil society organisations focused on protection, management, and conservation of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

I have published peer-reviewed academic articles on Bali’s water crisis, the subak system, cultural landscapes, and other land use change and environmental governance issues. I also contribute an annual piece for the World Heritage Watch on the current management and development issues at Bali’s UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Most of my work has revolved around the management of cultural landscape World Heritage Sites. I have also worked on climate change adaption initiatives involving local perspectives of change and supported disaster risk reduction efforts. In these spaces I focus on issues related to water equity, youth, and women.
